Nuno Sousa Vieira at Newlyn Art Gallery

Nuno Sousa Vieira Don’t underestimate the impact of the workplace
24th April  2010 – 22nd May 2010

In his first UK exhibition, Portugese artist Nuno Sousa Vieira shows work specially commissioned by Newlyn Art Gallery.

In his studio in an abandoned factory outside Lisbon, Sousa Vieira makes works from materials left behind by previous occupants.  He extends the life of these materials, giving them a second life as art objects.  Installed in Newlyn Art Gallery, the works intervene directly with the gallery spaces, encouraging questions about our attitudes to buildings – inhabited, abandoned or maybe re-developed.

The exhibition is curated by MA Curatorial Practice students from University College Falmouth.

Preview: Friday 23 April, 7 – 9pm.
